As an insect mesh it will exclude insect down to the size of Bees, when used to cover mandarin trees prior to blossom it will stop bees from pollinating the flower. Commercially the result is seedless fruit.

As Hail net it is used as a cheap temporary cover to protect fruit crops from small hail, commercially it is attached to an over head wire dropped prior to a pending hail event or known season and tied back up to the wire out of the way for the rest of the year.
