The information below regards to the percentage of shade factor and how it relates to polymer colour of shade cloth fabric.
- All shade cloths regardless of brand, type / denseness of knit or weave have a designated shade factor in its product description from the manufacturer.
- This can mislead as it only relates to material made using black polymer fibres, all other coloured fabrics that of the same mass are still labelled the same.
- As an example, please see below table, you can also see there is a correlation to the product’s % porosity.
- You may also notice that 90% domestic cloth is lighter in mass than 70% but provides more shade, this is due to a different type of knit and thread used.
- As such our 1.83m green 90% shade cloth has a nominal shade of 89%
